Sonar Signs Open Weights and American AI Leadership Letter

Company joins more than 230 organizations supporting a strong, open AI ecosystem—paired with the verification needed to put AI-generated code to work responsibly

AUSTIN, Texas — July 31, 2026 — Sonar, a global leader in AI code verification and governance, today announced it has signed the Open Weights and American AI Leadership letter, joining more than 230 companies and organizations calling for policies that strengthen open-weight AI innovation in the United States.

The letter argues that American AI leadership will be determined not by a single frontier model, but by the country’s ability to build an open ecosystem that expands access, encourages competition, gives organizations greater control over their AI capabilities, and strengthens security through transparency. Open-weight models can be downloaded, inspected, adapted, and run on an organization’s own infrastructure, giving developers and businesses greater flexibility in how they build and deploy AI.

Sonar believes the promise of more accessible AI must be matched by a practical way to verify the code it produces. As AI assistants and agents generate software at increasing speed and scale, organizations need an independent, consistent standard for verifying quality, security, and maintainability — regardless of the model or tool used to create the code.
